Your Dollar is More Than a Donation
“Building a Habitat house transforms not only one family, it transforms a whole community.” - Former U.S. First Lady Rosalynn Carter
Syracuse Habitat for Humanity donors make it possible to do what we do. We really can’t do it without your generous donations of money, materials, and services. We’d like to give a heart-felt THANK YOU to everyone who has donated and supported us over the years. Syracuse Habitat for Humanity never could have done all we have if it weren’t for the generosity of so many people.
Ways to Give
Every dollar makes a difference, and there are so many ways to donate and help change lives.
Employee Matching
Many employers have Matching Gift Programs where they will double your charitable donation. Check with your employer to see if they offer one.
Tribute Gifts
A donation in honor or memory of a loved one is a gift that continues to grow and support the community. Simply indicate this when submitting your donation and we'll send the appropriate Thank You card.
Planned Giving
When you establish your will or living trust, we hope that you will consider a legacy gift to Syracuse Habitat for Humanity. Legacy giving can come from anyone, no matter the size of your estate, or whether you think of yourself as rich or poor. Even a small legacy gift can have a big impact on the lives of a deserving family.
Your legacy gift can be listed in your will as a personal bequest. It may include cash, stocks, real estate, insurance policies or personal property. You may also name Syracuse Habitat for Humanity as a beneficiary of your life insurance, pension plan, or 401K or IRA. The official legal bequest language for Habitat for Humanity is:
"I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to Syracuse Habitat for Humanity, Inc. (22-2516352) [written amount or percentage of the estate or specific property] for its unrestricted use and purpose."
It’s easy to include a charitable donation to Syracuse Habitat in your will or living trust, but we suggest that you consult your estate lawyer or financial planner for guidance. When planning your legacy giving, you don’t have to choose between the not-for-profit and your family; you can give to both. To learn more about planned giving, contact us at (315) 422-2230.
