Veteran Build - the Walls are UP!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and made our Wall Raising Ceremony a huge success!

Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 marked the official Wall Raising for our newest Veteran Build. The ceremony was led by Scott Farnett of National Grid, a Syracuse Habitat for Humanity Board Member. The first wall was ceremoniously raised by volunteers from Anheuser-Busch, a major sponsor of the Veteran Build. Thank you to the additional sponsors who were able to attend the ceremony, including National Grid and Bank of America, as well as those who weren't able to make it, including Lockheed Martin, Lowe's, Carrier, and SRC.

In a ceremony filled with warm remarks, prayer, and lots of support, Scott explained the history of the Veteran Build program here in Syracuse, as well as a reminder that we are still looking for a Veteran Family for this home. Interested applicants can find additional information on our Home Ownership Page.

News Channel 9 was also on-site for the Ceremony - their story can be found here.

After the Ceremony, volunteers from Anheuser-Busch remained on site and raised most of the exterior walls, as well as transported the interior walls to the site. By Thursday afternoon, with the help of another group of volunteers from National Grid, all of the exterior and interior walls were raised! There is still a long way to go on this house, but we are so excited to have our walls up, and we look forward to working with more great groups of volunteers!
